We highly recommend using a u-lock for your frame versus a chain lock that is easy for thieves to cut through. The Kryptonite Evolution Mini 5 U-Lock is compact with enough clearance to tightly fit around your bike frame and a thin bike rack, stop sign, or thin parking meter. A tight fit boosts security as it is more difficult for thieves to wedge a lock cutting device between your lock and your bike.

Finding a smart place to lock your bike can be tricky and hard to come by on streets with heavy bike traffic, like Valencia Street in San Francisco or Bedford Street in Brooklyn. To properly lock your bike, the frame (not fenders, rack, or chain guard) needs to be locked to a permanent street fixture, ideally a bike rack, but stop signs and parking meters work too.
