Brand new, shiny red rack
By Joel G. in San Diego, CA on 08/06/14
recently had bought my wife a bike so we could ride around and save some gas and more importantly get some exercise as well. and wanting the bikes to be a bit more utilitarian, we wanted them to have the ability to carry our groceries or what have you. so my wife wanted a rear bike rack to carry things and to not have to wear a backpack as well. so enter the public store, and the red rack.

having a public bike doesn't mean you also have to get a public rack, most racks fit the bike just fine. but since we were in the city and she has a public bike, why not make the color fit the bike perfectly. and that's what we did, we got a brand new, shiny red rack.

also a lot of other things for commuter bikers: helmets, gear, racks, baskets, bottles/holders, bells, locks, bungees, and nearly anything else you need to make your commute easier and less dramaful. all in all a good place to shop. the workers were quite attentive and asked us if we needed help. we had an idea of what we wanted so it was easy to just go and tell them what you needed and voila it appears in a minute or two.

PUBLIC Rear Rack with Spring Clip

4.0 average rating • 1 customer reviews

If you're wondering whether to get a rear rack for your bike, the simple answer is a resounding: yes!

If you're used to biking with a backpack or messenger bag, we invite you to join a world without sweaty backs and sore shoulders. A rear bike rack allows you to carry surprisingly heavy loads on the most stable and strong part of the bicycle frame. Europeans have understood this for years, and this is why nearly all European city bikes come with some form of a rear bicycle rack as standard equipment.

Our PUBLIC Rear Rack includes a classic spring clip feature (sometimes affectionately called a "rat trap") which makes the rack even more practical and convenient for carrying everyday lightweight objects, locks, and other gear.

Our rear rack is a lightweight tubular alloy construction. They are strong, durable, and capable of handling up to 55 lbs of anything you need to carry. Our racks are painted to match our bike colors, and this brings a little comfort to your eyes as well.

Also check out our brand shiny new Silver Racks which look great on any of our PUBLIC bikes.

Don't forget to purchase your rack at the time you purchase your bike so we can install if for you.
