I LOVE my new orange mixte
By Sabs S. in Plano, TX on 11/27/13
First off let me start by saying I LOVE my new orange mixte - fell in love with it the minute I saw it. What really distinguishes Public from other custom bike shops is the service. The sales associates are kind, helpful, and willing to answer any of your hundred questions. I'm not an avid biker and was hesitant entering a store not knowing what I want or need but these guys knew exactly what would work for me once I spoke with them. It's very helpful to have a good relationship with your chosen bike shop and Public knows just how to sustain that. They're bikes are beautifully crafted, made with the best materials, and just overall quality bikes. Sure it may be expensive but you certainly get what you pay for.
A happy/proud Public Bikes rider
By Y.T. in San Francisco, CA on 04/11/14
I got my very first bike at Public Bikes, just a plain single gear, step-through. My main focus was just to get an easy-to-ride-bike, so step-through was perfect for me.

After 2 weeks of commuting (just 10 block one way), my left knee started to ache and I realized that I needed multiple gears. So I emailed Public Bikes and asked them if I can upgrade my bike. They replied right away and said I CAN!!

I went back to Public Bikes today and got an 8 speeds internal hub, Mixte-style, with a matching rack and sweet panniers!

The staff was kind, friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

(What else do we need, eh? )

I am a happy/proud Public Bikes rider now. (woohoo!!)

The PUBLIC M7i is our modern take on the classic French mixte bike design. Popular with women and men alike, the stylish and functional step-over mixte design is equally at home hauling baguettes and brie from your local market as it is on a speedy cross-town commute. We humbly think it's the best mixte bike you'll find. Updated with a lightweight, high quality steel frame, and incorporating all the best features from both the PUBLIC C7i and V7i, such as the smooth, easy shifting of the internally geared 7 speed hub and strong modern alloy rims; the PUBLIC M7i mixte is a capable and classy bicycle perfect for city bike commuters and country road adventures alike.

What truly makes the PUBLIC M7i one of the best mixte bikes on the market is the easy shifting Shimano Nexus 7 speed internally geared rear hub. This robust, durable and low maintenance shifting system makes changing gears a breeze, and allows the rider to select the ideal gear whether pedaling quickly or at a full stop. This feature is particularly helpful when pedaling around town, where stop-and-go riding is common. In addition to the upgraded and simplified drivetrain, the PUBLIC M7i mixte receives our strongest double walled alloy rims, which provide years of trouble free service, even over the roughest pavement.

In keeping with our love for simple, clean and functional bicycles, the PUBLIC M7i mixte includes everything you need and nothing you don't. In addition to the smooth shifting Shimano Nexus 7 speed hub, the PUBLIC M7i mixte comes standard with powerful modern dual pivot brakes to ensure safe and reliable braking in all conditions. Also standard on all PUBLIC M7i mixte bikes are tires with 3M reflective sidewalls to provide additional visibility and safety at night.

We designed the PUBLIC M7i in response to customer requests for a high quality, stylish and fun, internally geared city bike that was easy to get on and off of and retained the sportier handling characteristics of our diamond frame bikes.
