step 1:
step 2:

The PUBLIC D8i is our premium commuter and recreational city bike. The easy-shifting eight-speed internal hub is suitable for all cities, even for the hills of San Francisco. The classic diamond frame style, paired with the Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub on the D8i offers a superior ride quality and ease of use. It makes city riding a pleasure, and we recommend it to anyone who plans to ride often and in varying road conditions. Color options include Black, Green, and Orange.

This model has become the standard for many bicyclists in Europe because it is so dependable and versatile, though our steel frame provides a smoother ride than most European bikes. The frame style is based on the classic "diamond" frame geometry that has been the standard for city bikes, touring bikes, and even racing bikes dating back to the late 19th century.

The details are what set the PUBLIC D8i apart from other commuter bikes. With the Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub and double butted chromoly steel tube set, the PUBLIC D8i offers an enhanced ride quality. The internal hub gearing allows you to shift gears without having to pedal, whether you're stopped at an intersection or coasting. Compared to our other PUBLIC bikes (with the exception of our 16-speed city road PUBLIC R16), the Shimano eight-speed internally geared hub offers the widest range of gears to provide power up hills and speed on flatlands. Simply stated, the PUBLIC D8i rides like butter.

Signature PUBLIC features include lightweight, durable steel-frame. Featherweight aluminum chain guard and sturdy fenders keep your clothes clean. You can add a PUBLIC rack to carry a pannier, basket, or bungee your items. Our unique styling details include matching color double walled rims, color coordinated cable housing, cream tires, water bottle cage braze-ons, and optional matching rear racks. You can dress it up with a pannier, basket, special grips, Brooks saddle, or other accessories to suit your personality or functional needs.

We make delivery and assembly easy for you, including our unique Ready to Ride option that allows anyone to assemble a PUBLIC bike at their home or office in minutes (tools included).

Details

  • Comfortable and Smooth Riding: Steel tubing and frame geometry make for a softer ride experience than other frames and materials.
