Just cannot say enough great things
By Cydney B. in San Francisco, CA on 10/21/13
Huz and I've wanted to get back into bicycling for awhile, after a very long absence, but we were very nervous. Plus we didn't want to have to deal with any snarky bike attitude while we were trying to figure out which bike to buy. We took the Bicycle Coalition 101-1 class and Bert Hill mentioned Public Bikes as a good option. After checking out several different kinds of bikes, we trepedatiously went into the Park Street store to check them out. Fortunately for us, Justin was working that day and made everything really easy for us. A genuinely nice person without a bit of attitude; all he wanted to do was put us at our ease when he saw we were nervous. No pressure -- just lots of info. A week later, we went back and bought the Huz a Mixte and start-up gear and couldn't be happier. I'm next -- for the Step Thru. Thank you Justin for making this such a pleasant experience. A double bonus since Public Bikes are crazy awesomely fun.
PS.. The "love at first ride" guarantee is excellent. After a few days on his new bike the Huz decided he wanted a Diamond instead of Mixte. No problem. Exchange made cheerfully with no hassle. Thanks again, Justin!
PPSS... Now I have my bike too! A C7i in a lovely dark blue ... courtesy of Justin again. Just cannot say enough great things about him and about Public Bikes. I heard that Public and Kimpton Hotels have collaborated to put Public Bikes as loaners in all the Kimpton Hotels. I always enjoy boutique hotels, esp. Kimpton!
A step through that was just right for me

I wanted an upright dutch bike but being of small stature I couldn't see myself on a gazelle although I wanted one I thought it would be just too big for me and so I found public to have a step through that was just right for me. Let me tell you, you don't have to spend 2500 for a name like atlantis to have a good riding experience. I love this bike, it rides like butter, it's elegant and I love just being able to step through it, it's getting more use out of my custom made Roberts Roughstuff. I love the whole riding upright feature. All I'm doing to it is changing out the handlebar to an albatross although the one on it is perfect, I just wanted a more retro look. I'm also adding a clip on water bottle cage and schwalbe tires since it has an internal hub you don't have the quick release for tire changing so having the schwalbe tires should ward off punctures. I also put a quick release for the seat post and the front tire. Those are little things that make riding a little easier.
