I feel like I'm 12 years old again
By Nikki D. in Bay Area on 09/17/14
This bike is great! The single speed is fine for trips around town and leisurely rides by my house. The bike is very comfortable to ride, with its upright position, and it is very maneuverable. The bike is pretty light as well, which makes it easy to carry up and down stairs if need be. I've had this bike for a little more than 1 month, and rides beautifully. Bottom line, when I ride it I feel like I'm 12 years old again-riding is fun again!
My number one mode of transportation
By Katie K. in San Rafael, CA on 04/30/14
I bought my C1 single speed last December, thinking it'd sit in my apartment like a museum piece 'til my Copenhagen Wheel (e-assist) arrived.
Well, the wheel still isn't here, but this bike is my number one mode of transportation. I certainly didn't think it'd work out this way.
I've been an avid cyclist for years, mostly on long training rides on the roads, sometimes in the dirt. I have always tried to use a bike for errands, but it takes discipline, typically requiring some kind of clothing change. It's hard to wear a summer dress on a mountain bike, for example. I mean I'm sure it's possible, but then finding a pair of matching mountain bike shoes, ugh.
Then there's the issue of hauling things, or parking a mountain or a road bike when you get to a store. It is really still not common to find bikes suitable for actually "living."
Meanwhile, t turn to this thing without thinking about it. It's great for trips to the store and other errands, and also simply to socialize outside.
Drivers honk and wave to me, and they mean to be friendly.
It's such a more pleasant experience than the militant style of cycling that's come to be normal in the Bay Area. There's this definite "us vs. them" thing, I've been a part of it for years, and it's crazy how just changing your bike and your mindset can alter psychology.
I've already upgraded the seat to a Brooks B67s saddle, which has enhanced my riding experience even more. I've added the Public brass bell, which to my ears sounds obnoxious, but many people have thanked me for using it. I've got some big red panniers and a beautiful wicker basket in the front.
