Jason Munn Framed 20 X 30 Poster

For 20x30 Unframed or 40x60 Canvas, see below

The bicycle can be viewed from many angles. Munn chooses to look at it from the backside, maybe the least pretentious, perhaps the sweetest, and often the sexiest perspective. This poster comes from a longstanding tradition of romantic bike posters from the early 19th century when bikes were used to get people out of the city and into the country for social events like picnics.

There are several elegant formal elements at work here such as the way that the angles of the bottle and the kickstand (and the tire treads) offset the symmetry of the bike. Delicate touches such as the red reflector rose and the checkered tablecloth keep your eyes moving. Details like the way the pedals and grass have been simplified so gracefully are signature touches from a great designer/illustrator.

Jason Munns career started under the pseudonym The Small Stakes designing posters for local venues and independent musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now working under his name, Munn continues to focus on posters, as well as design and illustration commissions. His work has appeared in numerous exhibits and publications. Munns clients include San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Chronicle Books, Noise Pop Festival, Patagonia, Death Cab for Cutie, Flight Of The Conchords, The National and many other well known bands.
